David Ortega - Photographer / Visual Creative

My career in photography started when I stole my mother's 35mm point-and-shoot camera and shot my first roll of black and white film. I’ll never forget the exact moment that I saw those over/under exposed images unfold in the developing bath…I was in absolute love. To be completely honest, The images were terrible but I remember thinking to myself that I finally found myself - I am artist. In high school it’s not easy for a young kid to find solid ground - you are constantly testing the waters and calibrating along the way. Fortunately I found photography as both therapy and a creative outlet and dove really deep into traditional photography processes. The next few years I found myself inside of a darkroom most of the day and chipped away at building a platform that would shape my entire life.

- Needless to say, she never got that camera back...

After spending a few years under the wing of a few special photographers in traditional black and white photography and printing, I set off to attend photography school in Chicago. I graduated from Harrington College of Design where I earned a degree in Digital Photography. My career began shortly after back in my native state of California where I work out of my studio in Benicia, CA.

To me, Art is not a thing - It is a way.

Joseph Chun - Videographer / Visual Creative

My creative journey first started out as a way to document my learning process on how to longboard. My life as a high-schooler was all about bombing down hills and recording my successes and my failures at that sport. I fell in love with the idea of being able to show my process of learning, and even more with the idea of being able to show others.

My beginnings as a creative were humble, saving quarters and dollars to buy a $100 point-and-shoot and taking videos of both my friends and me skating down hills and doing parkour tricks. It really just snowballed from there - Against my parent’s wishes I decided that exploring a career in the creative arts was where I was destined to go and the rest, well, it’s the life I live now.

Graduating from Pacific Union College with a Bachelor’s in Film and Television. It was the creative life for me. I started and failed multitudes of creative ventures, but learned and became more motivated with each - it’s the life I continue to live.

Chrome Visual Company is the culmination of my experiences and the life I decided to live.
